Continuous Water Supply

To achieve its goal, PDAM Tirta Musi focuses its efforts in Kota Lama where 10,000 customers currently receive water for only 13 hours per day. Using Kota Lama as the pilot area, PDAM Tirta Musi intends to rehabilitate the distribution network, optimize treatment processes, and reduce water losses. It will also apply best practices from the pilot area to bring continuous supply to the rest of the city. To assist in its efforts PDAM Tirta Musi seeks best practices from water service providers in the region recognized for managing and delivering safe, continuous water supply.

In FY 2010, ECO-Asia facilitated a twinning partnership between PDAM Tirta Musi and PBAPP to support PDAM Tirta Musi in its efforts to provide safe and continuous water supply to its customers. The partnership focuses mainly on supporting conversion to continuous supply using water loss management and treatment optimization techniques. Whenever possible, ECO-Asia involves the Indonesian Water Supply Association (PERPAMSI) to promote replication of the best practices implemented in Palembang.
