As part of its participation at WUF13 activities in Azerbaijan, WaterLinks joined a technical field visit to the Jeyranbatan Reservoir and Water Treatment Facilities on 18 May, hosted by the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency and led by Board Chairman Tahir Khalilov.

Together with fellow GWOPA utility members and partners, WaterLinks toured the facilities, which supply drinking water to more than half of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, with a daily treatment capacity of approximately 350,000–400,000 m3. The visit provided participants with firsthand exposure to the facility’s advanced ultrafiltration system and automated control room, highlighting innovative approaches to operational monitoring and management.

The field visit also created valuable opportunities for peer learning and technical exchange between WaterLinks and Azerbaijani water professionals, particularly on shared sector challenges such as non-revenue water reduction, rising energy costs, and strengthening water security and utility resilience.
