The conference was designed as a learning event for representatives from Nepal, Bangladesh, and the State of Odisha in India who have embarked on a process to establish regulatory arrangements for the WASH sector. It aimed to be a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices in water and sanitation service regulation. About 70 participants attended, including government representatives from Bhutan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. There were also representatives from NGOs, academia, and practitioners from the WASH sector in South Asia. The ‘teaching’ faculty comprised representatives from the East and Southern Africa Association of WASH Regulators (ESAWAS), SPAN (Malaysia’s WASH Regulator), and the Metropolitan Water and Sewerage System - Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) of the Philippines.
